An avid reader, one of Tim's all-time favorite books is the
Knowing-Doing Gap, How Smart Companies Turn Knowledge into Action by Jeffrey Pfeffer and Robert Sutton. The authors' research found that the knowledge gap only partially explains the performance gap in companies. They believed it was the company's ability to turn the knowledge into action that had the biggest impact on performance. Based on serving transportation and logistics clients for over 30 years, Tim believed that the authors' conclusions were spot-on for many transportation and logistics companies. Tim believed that this knowing-doing gap was the result of the companies not having a specific process to take the knowledge they had and using that knowledge to execute on a plan to improve profitability. Tim began to research various performance platforms and was convinced that Scaling Up would be the ideal platform to help transportation and logistics companies grow and transform their businesses. After completing rigorous coursework, service commitments and a peer review panel, Tim joined the ranks of more than 250 fellow Certified Scaling Up Coaches in December 2022 who have earned the prestigious certification.
